THE HOME

A place to experiment the Sanatorium of Souls for Alejandro Casona´s play Forbidden Suicide in Spring Time

El Hogar (The Home) concentrates around it visitors (audience) and residents (actors) to come alive a experience based on the play Prohibido Suicidarse en Primavera (Forbidden Suicide in Spring Time).

During 24 hours, residents and visitors live together in the “Main Home” mixing their stories, even exchanging their roles.

Different kinds of therapies (indoor and outdoor) will conduct visitors to discover more about residents´ diseases and let modify others´ and own Destinys.

This experience arises as a transmedia proposal that explore different levels of approach of the theatrical event through a non linear storytelling and research about how stage design can explode and go on beyond traditional limits of space and time.

The Play

The Home is based on the play “Prohibido Suicidarse en Primavera” (Forbidden Suicide in Spring Time) by Alejandro Casona.

The Topic

Suicide as no solution for any problem or disease is the main topic of this play. Life as a wonderful experience that should not be wasted and the beauty of nature as medicine.

Staging the Home

The Cuestionaire

Visitors´ Kit

Each visitor makes a questionnaire online when registering for the experience which is used to diagnose the condition of each participant and provide them with his visitor’s kit.
In each kit they will find the commands, sequences and the materials that you will need depending on their answers.

Doctor Ariel

Dr. Ariel, founder of Sanatorium of Souls, does not have an action role play in the original text (excepting through the current director of the center, Dr. Roda and his assistant Hans). In this review, we rescue that character and turned it into the articulating axis of the experience as a Transmedia Experiment Object (T.E.O). Visitors and residents will interact with “Him” since the first steps when they received the instructions till the final resolution when visitor receive their diagnostic and residents face their life or death destiny.
